Officials seize 2 crore worth of gold from train at Patliputra station, 3 Bangladeshi arrested

In a collaborative effort between the Railway Police and DRI, a seizure of gold worth Rs 2 crore was made at Patliputra station in Patna. Three Bangladeshi nationals were also arrested in connection with the incident. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Kamruzaman, Mohd Sahab Ali, and Mohd Ayub Khan.

According to RPF Inspector Shankar Ajay Patel, a total of 4536.09 grams of gold-like metal, valued at approximately two crores, was seized from coach B-11, berth numbers 12, 15, and 16 of train number 12423 Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express at Patliputra station. The police team acted on a tip-off about a gold smuggler traveling from Guwahati to Delhi on the aforementioned train and formed a team to apprehend the culprit.

The team successfully arrested the three suspects from the train at Pataliputra station and brought them to the RPF post. Upon searching their bags, they discovered around 1 kg of gold-like metal and approximately 800 grams of gold biscuits concealed in a power bank, worth around Rs 1,01,80,00 in total. DRI Patna was informed of the incident, and a joint note was created after thoroughly checking all the bags in their office, revealing a total of 4536.09 grams of gold, worth Rs 2,59,69,115.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had entered Guwahati from Bangladesh in a private vehicle and were traveling to Delhi on train number 12423, where someone was supposed to contact them and collect their bags.
